Coopetition instead of competition

Logo von Druckzentrum und Staffel Medien AG - zusammen stark am Markt

The days of going it alone are over. The future belongs to clever collaborations, as is the case with Druckzentrum AG Zurich-South (DZS) and Staffel Medien AG. The close cooperation between the two companies makes new services possible, all of which are produced under one roof. Short distances make it possible to efficiently implement specialties such as folds or gluing.

Better on the market together as competitors

For around 15 years, Druckzentrum AG Zurich-South has been concentrating on the production of dressed mailings. Mailings, i.e. personalized printed matter with an advertising character, are produced in print runs of a few hundred to hundreds of thousands. Particular attention is paid to the production of so-called self-mailers: advertising messages that are reproduced on high-quality paper and enhanced with personalization.

Thanks to the systems tailored to these products, work steps can be completed in one production run: Creasing, cycle perforation (e.g. for detachable coupons), punching (e.g. a circular punch-out to indicate a promotion), gluing on patterns (e.g. tea bags, adhesive sheets, reply cards, credit cards), sealing with scratch-off dots for easy opening of the mailing.

"The coopetition with Staffel Medien is very valuable for us"

To round off the range, it is also possible to process cardboard boxes: gluing from short runs to larger batches. All of this is possible here at Binzstrasse. Another particularly exciting feature is the option of attaching product samples to cards and distributing them at wholesalers or in highly frequented locations such as train stations. Such sampling campaigns are ideal for reaching customers with your products or messages.

The equipment is also perfectly tailored to the classic mailing, the neat letter in an envelope: envelopes in formats ranging from C6/5 to large format C4 can be machine-packed with several, even heavy inserts (e.g. magazines).
Our proximity to the post office or to the usual distribution organizations enables the smooth dispatch of advertising messages or association printed matter.

“The coopetition with Staffel Medien is very valuable for us,” says Bruno Felder, owner and Managing Director of Druckzentrum AG Zurich South, “our companies complement each other perfectly. While the personalization work is carried out on the Staffel Medien equipment, the special machines at the printing center can be used to optimum capacity thanks to the synergy of the location. Co-working under one roof has been successfully practiced here for almost three years.

Coopetition - what does that mean?

Coopetition is made up of the terms “cooperation” and “competition”. It describes a cooperation between companies that are actually in competition with each other. The condition for such a coopetition to work is that both parties gain more benefits from it than they would have from previous working methods. It is essential to create a win-win situation. Important factors such as trust, loyalty and communication are given top priority.

Whether in the automotive or chemical industry or in our market segment, the graphic arts industry, it is clear that tactful cooperation, such as that maintained by Druckzentrum AG Zurich South and Staffel Medien AG, is a more than efficient solution. This enables us to offer you all a wide range of services and support you with your communication from A to Z, digitally and in print.

Definition of coopetition:

Cooperation between competitors in the sense of forming strategic alliances in order to stabilize or optimize earnings through the formation of value creation networks. Coopetition prevents ruinous price competition and thus leads to competitive advantages for both providers (win-win strategy).
