Active clubs need a lively website
We designed and realized a new website for the handball players’ association of Horgen and Wädenswil and the women’s association of Lake Zurich (Thalwil to Richterswil).
The requirements included the visualization of all communities and associations in the respective colors, the updating of content by several people and the active communication option on various channels to the outside world.
Of course, the respective club life is also kept up to date and communicated via the website.
That is what makes this website stand out:
- Current content by those responsible in the clubs
- Individual and overall match schedules for all teams at all levels
- Event calendar for all joint activities
- Integration of the live ticker of the Swiss Handball Association
This website creation is an expression of the absolute will of all protagonists and there were many of them!
By many we mean the board members of the handball clubs of Horgen and Wädenswil, the Spielgemeinschaft Zürichsee and all the helpers in various functions.
The intention of the SG (Spielgemeinschaft) at all levels had been a foregone conclusion for some time, and representatives of the SG soon went into action.
full of enthusiasm for the project of a joint website. A URL (Uniform Resource Locator) was needed, but what should it be called for both associations?
An online survey was launched and the clear winner emerged: SGHW.CH (Spielgemeinschaft Horgen/Wädenswil).
This process alone took several months – how can an entire website with structures and content be created within a defined period of time?
As is so often the case, good conversations and a glass of wine led to brilliant ideas and the formation of a power duo, which brought the two club presidents and other decision-makers to the big meeting table and fixed the necessary decisions – the implementation could now begin; this was the beginning of many

We opted for the “WordPress” platform because it guarantees high security standards, a wide variety of “themes” are available, a very large Internet community is working on a wide variety of solutions (plug-ins) and also impresses with its fast response times. It is estimated that around 455 million websites worldwide have been created with it.
"Our new homepage has given the identity of our handball partnership a unified and professional face with which we proudly present ourselves to the handball world. As a modern, functional and future-oriented platform, it not only serves to publish the latest news, teams and results, it also gives our sponsors and supporters the prominent place they deserve to present themselves in the best light.
I am delighted that we are now seen as a strong unit online, just as we are on the pitch."
This was followed by the process of finding a navigation structure that covered all current and planned needs and the creation of all template pages and functions for a uniform and consistent appearance. And last but not least, many hard-working helpers had to sift through all the existing content such as information, reports, contacts, images and much more, revise it, adapt it and finally add it to the new website.
On September 2, 2020, the time had come for the “Go Live”. During the day, the last important adjustments were made and in the evening the website team launched the new site. An ambitious project thus came to a crowning conclusion and a start for various clubs and countless teams!
